How much does Business Central Cost?

Business Central Pricing

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an ERP solution for SMBs, designed to be flexible and customisable to your individual business requirements. This means that partners are typically reluctant to provide an estimate of how much a project is going to cost without hours of discovery time. Alternatively, they only provide a fixed package price, which defeats the point of a bespoke system!

On this page we will explain how Business Central licensing works, and have included a calculator which will provide a budget price range to give you a guide as to how much your system might cost.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central purchasing made simple

How to Buy Business Central

If you haven't bought an ERP system before, understanding what is involved can be a bit daunting. We have put together this basic guide so that you understand the different factors and decisions that need to be made.

Licensing Model

Licenses are what allow you and your staff access to the software. For Business Central, licenses are purchased per user.

There are two ways to license the product:

  • SaaS (Software as a Service) - fully cloud hosted and live updating
  • On-Premise - host on your own servers, either on site or in the cloud

User Types

Business Central has two levels, Essentials or Premium - depending on which functionality you require (this cannot be mixed and matched across staff). There are then two types of users

Full Users - Access to the full system (permissions allowing), either as Essentials or Premium.

Team Members - Team members have access to read the whole system (permissions allowing), but have limited write functionality. Ideal for users who only have limited use of the system.

Implementation

Designed to be flexible with setup and customisation, Business Central offers the flexibility that you require to operate in the best way for your business. This does, however, mean that there is plenty of work involved with getting up and running. This means you have 3 options:

  • Do it yourself - this is not advisable, and generally speaking ends up with a mess that you need fixing!
  • Pre-packaged implementations - generally for smaller and simpler requirements, a packaged implementation gives you an out of the box start.

Where it lives

When you buy Business Central, there are two models as to how you purchase the software. You can either buy it fully hosted SAAS which simplifies your infrastructure, or you can go for the "On-Premise" Option. On premise means you host it on your servers, so this can be on your own managed cloud servers.

Add-On Solutions

There are a wide range of standard industry solutions to add capability to your solution - very often as a seamless part of that solution. With our experience of the marketplace, we have an approved list of add-on solutions that we will suggest, depending on your requirements.

Support

A key part of running your business on one integrated system is that you really need to be confident on the smooth running of that software. Our expert support team will give you the peace of mind that your system will continue to run smoothly.
