One of the many benefits of Microsoft Dynamics NAV is it's reporting capability. From viewing lists as charts, to exporting to Excel and Power BI; there are a wide range of options available for improving productivity, simplifying processes and getting the most out of your day.
By far the most popular feature of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, however, are standard NAV Reports.

In a recent blog we discussed the reasons for going to Directions EMEA – now it is finally here! With Dynamics 365 bringing together Dynamics NAV/Dynamics 365 with Dynamics CRM, this event has grown massively, with a lot of sessions focussed on the integration of the two products, as well as their future together.
Here we will discuss an overview of what we learnt at today’s wide range of seminars.
One of the ways Microsoft releases information is via big conferences and the main one for NAV partners is Directions. In July, they hold an event called Inspire, which is all about building awareness and showing the company ethos. This is then followed by Directions in October, which provides an in depth look at the new Business product releases. Traditionally this has been a Microsoft Dynamics NAV event, but with Dynamics 365 brings together the ERP and CRM worlds.

If you have read our previous blogs on what is GDPR and the ICO advice on GDPR, you will know that the General Data Protection Regulations apply to your business and need to be conformed to by May 2018. You will also know that there is a lot to take in and actioning all of the requirements is causing a lot of headaches! However, to help launch your GDPR journey we have split down tasks into some bitesize chunks so that you can start making headway.

We have been speaking to a lot of businesses about GDPR, and the response is one of two options:
We read all sorts of figures about the high percentage of UK businesses, especially in the SMB space, that have no plan, willing or even awareness of the new regulations.
Last week saw the return of the Business Software Showcase, Dynamics Consultants’ event to bring the latest business management software and practices to the new and experienced alike. Supported by Microsoft, various solution providers and local industry, the event drew the largest crowd yet. So thank you to everyone who made it possible, from contributors to guests, and of course to our ever popular team of experts!
The results of the feedback are still coming in, but so far the day has scored 4.4 Stars!
To give us some early warning, Microsoft have announced that there will be a price increase, starting 1st January 2017. Although Microsoft pricing is generally very stable, they occasionally make adjustments based on currency fluctuations. Following the nose-dive in the value of the Pound, we have seen a lot of press regarding increasing price lists, such as the controversial argument between Unilever and Tesco. Now, in the name of continuity, we have been told that there will be a 13% increase for on-premise enterprise software, and a 22% increase on enterprise cloud prices. As a partner, we have been assured that all pricing will remain extremely competitive in the marketplace.
As Microsoft approved partners, our consultants are at Directions EMEA finding out all of the latest in the Dynamics world. The keynote speakers and Microsoft engineers presented a quick overview this morning of all of the new features of Dynamics NAV 2017, the next release for their business ERP software. Full details will be released as the week progresses, but for now here is an interesting overview.

With the ever growing world of social media, it is very often difficult for businesses to see the benefit as any more than a billboard for product announcements. Social listening allows you to take the data available on social media platforms and turn them into real business insights, not only to engage with customers, but also to gain trends in the market place. For example, if you knew that there was an increase in popularity of a product, your purchasers would be able to manage stock accordingly.
Microsoft provide this using Social CRM. Microsoft Social Engagement is a powerful CRM service that puts cutting edge tools in the hands of your sales, service and marketing teams. Connect on social media with customers, fans and critics to gain insight regarding how people really feel about your business.

Microsoft SQL Server® is a market leading enterprise level database solution used by any a large number and variety of applications on which to host their databases and store their data. As with anything in life, things can go wrong, and this is true with SQL Server. Your valuable data can be lost for a number of reasons such as hardware failure, theft, fire, flood, user error etc. and so it is worth planning for such events to make recovery as painless as possible.

As a Microsoft specialist it is important to us to keep our staff trained and certified in the Microsoft products. As you will be aware from our other blogs, we do a lot of training of apprentices to bring new talent into the industry. Ed recently completed his Apprenticeship at Highbury College entitled “Level 3 Extended It & Telecoms”. But this is not the end of his journey!
Congratulations to Ed for passing the “98-361 Software Development Fundamentals Microsoft Certification exam”, which covers a wide range of general programming principles. We will continue to train him and he has a couple of other qualifications lined up already, all part of the development our employees.
